Z’s 6th Birthday

My eldest daughter’s birthday was celebrated with her cousins and grandmothers and aunts.  Being a winter birthday citrus is in season so the chosen birthday cake was an Orange & Almond cake…also a recipe of our famous friend Ni who invented Ni’s Million Dollar cake.  This is a very simple, dense, flavourful cake and looks elegant and pretty with some minor finishings.  In this case some toasted, flaked almonds.  This recipe also works well as mini or regular sized cupcakes.
 

Other food served included season orange wedges and strawberries from the local strawberry farm, avocado dip and corn chips, homemade sausage rolls and a gluten and dairy free raspberry coconut slice.
